MOONTA MINES CHURCH SERVICE
This iconic event has been part of the festival since its inception in 1973.
Unfortunately, we won’t be able to fit our usual 900 people into the building
because of Covid 19 restrictions. As a result, we have altered the nature of
the event a little. This festival we aim to reproduce a
traditional Methodist worship service, with mixed choir, hymns, prayers and
sermon, but a bit shorter than the original, to fit modern expectations.
As usual, the service will be preceded by items by guest artists and community
singing, much in the style of a traditional Methodist Pleasant Sunday
Afternoon. The service will be held in the national and state heritage listed
old Moonta Mines Methodist Church (now Moonta Mines Uniting) at Bower Street,
Moonta Mines. Community Singing begins at 1.00pm and the Worship Service at
2.00pm.
